Perth is going to get a series of solar city initiatives with the first being the installation of 162,000 solar panels that will generate 73,000 kilowatts hours per year at The Central Institute of Technology in Northbridge.
One of the benefits of the installation is that it will be used to train technicians in how to install PV panels to the main grid.
Ultimately there will be five solar energy installation projects which will produce a combined output of 860,000 kilowatt hours of power per annum. The other projects are slated for Perth Zoo, Perth Arena, Kings Park and the Midland Railway Workshop.
The cost of the project is estimated to be worth $85 million over 5 years.
