WA Nobel prize winner to develop new vaccine

Barry Marshall, WA's own Nobel prize winner is continuing his research work into using bacteria to transmit anti virus's into the body. His current research uses foods such as yoghurt to deliver the anti virus. If trials at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital succeed, the whole global vaccine industy could be revolutionised allowing for a range of viral illnesses to be treated without the need for injections as a delivery mechanism.

How a 'shared vision' can impact our future in Western Australia

If you've ever considered how a positive or negative outlook impacts your reality, consider how a shared group outlook on the future can impact the reality of a state or nation.

Howard Bloom, author of Global Brain, has just released a new book, entitled Genius of the Beast where he explores 'group think' in relation to potential futures for the United States. The book draws on serious scientific research. Giving America a Vision Implant—Crayfish, Neurochemicals and the Future of Your Civilization

Kimberley tides + HVDC - key to a new energy future

Tides in the Kimberley (Far north of Western Australia) are some of the most powerful in the world but the area is extremely remote and over 2000km's from Perth. New HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current ) power lines are the answer to transporting power from this remote region back to Perth or the Pilbara where much of the Western Australian mining industry conducts its' activity.

Under federal law, Western Australia must generate 20% of its' energy from renewable sources by 2020. Murdoch University enegy professor, Adam McHugh is convinced that tidal power generated by turbines that spin as the tide surges in & out could be the 'magic bullet' for WA's energy needs.

Future demand for enegy is expected to top 7000MW compared to current demand that sits at about 5000MW per annum.

As HVDC transmission is now competitive with traditional AC powerlines but with the potential to reduce power loss over long distances from 50% to less than 10%, Western Australia has a very bright future.

Solar Installation Companies wait for Government Cash in Western Australia

The government's decision to restrict the $10,000 solar rebate to households with incomes of less than $100,000 has sparked massive demand for the installation of solar energy systems. Unfortunately, the government has been slow to pass the rebates to the installation companies and this is hurting business in this important area.
